Field Service Engineer - Milton Keynes

Our client owns and operates low carbon and renewable energy networks in Milton Keynes and Woking, supplying district heat, cooling and electricity to large commercial and public sector customers, and approximately 1500 residential units. The business is generating assets that include nearly 10 MW of gas fired CHP and over 1.8 MW of solar PV installations

The Field Service Engineers role is part of an engineering team with responsibilities for all operating and maintenance activities in relation to our clients Combined Heat and Power energy station, private wire electricity distribution network and district heat assets in central Milton Keynes.  The purpose of the role is to assist in the planned maintenance, repair, replacement and operation of electrical and mechanical plant and equipment throughout the energy station, distribution networks, substations and company equipment located in customer premises.

Based in Milton Keynes main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring operational reliability of assets through defined maintenance activities such as filter replacements, oil sample collection, vibration data collection, motor lubrication, maintaining and replacing generator spark plugs, electrical system inspection, testing and maintenance, thermal imaging surveys, etc.
  • Responding to reactive maintenance requirements to maximise asset availability, such as identifying and rectifying generator faults, restoring electrical supplies, repairing pipe work, valves and pumps, etc.
  • Diagnosing and rectifying domestic heating system faults, replacing central heating pumps, control valves, thermostats, etc.
  • Making daily system checks and completing logs, identifying anomalies and adjusting system operational parameters through SCADA based control systems.
  • Maintaining fiscal meter installations, Automatic Meter Reading systems and data networks
  • Helping to ensure plant and equipment is available and operating at maximum efficiency by identifying and reporting issues in a timely manner

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • A strong background in fault finding, testing, maintenance and repair of electrical distribution and control systems.
  • Good working knowledge of industrial plant including generators, pumps, motors, electrical control gear etc.
  • Engineering apprenticeship or hold suitable qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Current qualifications in electrical installation, inspection and testing (C&G 2382-18, C&G 2365 or equivalent) and (C&G 2391)
  • Excellent IT skills

Remuneration:

  • Salary – up to £35,000 DOE
  • 25 Days plus Bank holidays
