Operations & Maintenance Supervisor - CHP - Woking

Our client owns and operates low carbon and renewable energy CHP networks in Milton Keynes and Woking, supplying district heat, cooling and electricity to large commercial and public sector customers, and approximately 1500 residential units. The business is generating assets that include nearly 10MW of gas fired CHP and over 1.8 MW of solar PV installations

Primarily based in Woking, Surrey, with occasional cover also required in Milton Keynes and occasional travel elsewhere within the South East.  This is a great opportunity for someone looking to be instrumental in a company’s growth plans over the next 3 – 5 years.

Role Purpose:

To plan and carry out planned preventative maintenance, Proactive Maintenance and reactive/ breakdown works, ensuring that the quality of technical work is of a high standard and in compliance with statutory requirements, resourcing from directly employed or contract labour as required. To manage maintenance contracts and external support, to ensure maximum availability of the CHP, heat and cooling plant. Keeping Customer requirements at the forefront of the operation processes

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Full operational & maintenance support for the CHP Energy Centres
  • Resource Management
  • Systems procedures, controls and reporting
  • Compliance and standards, Risk Assessments
  • Managing a small permanent team of electrical and mechanical engineering staff
  • Responsible for O&M of an existing trigeneration network (1.6MW CHP), a new 10MW energy station and a third energy plant (500KW CHP/Gas boiler plant), plus several smaller community micro CHP sites and approximately 60 Solar PV sites
  • Assisting with maintenance budgets
  • Dealing with your operating network which includes, company staff, suppliers, contractors, tenants, FM service providers, commercial building owners and private domestic customers

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A strong understanding of plant O&M relevant to district energy based on a wide experience of service delivery within the energy industry
  • Strong understanding of Plant O&M relevant to district energy, CHP generation
  • Hands on experience of CHP generation, electrical distribution and chilled water systems
  • Experience with CHP Gas Engines/Gas Fired Boilers/Internal Combustion systems
  • Experience in small and large district heating networks (Desirable)
  • Development of PPM schedules / Emergency call out rota
  • Management and control of projects in addition to O&M responsibilities
  • Experience of working with PLC/SCADA systems (Advantageous)
  • A recognised Mechanical qualification to C&G or NVQ level/relevant apprenticeship/Mechanical Engineering
  • IOSH Managing safety or similar qualification
  • ACoP L8 Legionella trained
  • Strong leadership skills

Remuneration:

  • Salary – up to £40,000 - £45,000
