Operations & Maintenance Technician - Woking

Our client owns and operates low carbon and renewable energy networks in Milton Keynes and Woking, supplying district heat, cooling and electricity to large commercial and public sector customers, and approximately 1500 residential units. The business is generating assets that include nearly 10 MW of gas fired CHP and over 1.8 MW of solar PV installations.

The Operations & Maintenance Technician’s role is to carry out Proactive and Reactive Maintenance / Breakdown works and Planned Preventative Maintenance. Working to a high technical standard, in compliance with statutory requirements and with regard to health and safety. Working as part of a team responding to proactive and reactive work lists and monitoring the status of the plant, responding appropriately.  Cooperating with the team and management to ensure maximum availability of the CHP, heat and cooling plant. Keeping Customer requirements at the forefront of the operational processes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Operations & Maintenance Technician:

  • Operations & Maintenance of the Heating and Cooling Plant
  • Shared responsibility for asset management of district heat, power and chilled water generation, distribution and supply network apparatus
  • Monitoring and operating the cooling towers in line with the legionella management system and HSE guidance.
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules working in unison with team members
  • Management and control of projects and tasks additional to Operation and Maintenance activities, including plant replacement, new customer connections and network extensions

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with CHP gas engines is desirable
  • Highly familiar with safe maintenance procedures for planned preventative maintenance.
  • Experience in administration or operation of CMMS systems
  • Strong communication skills verbal and written.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • Experience in small and large district heating networks
  • A strong understanding of plant O&M, relevant service delivery within the energy industry.
  • Experience of CHP generation, electrical distribution heat and chilled water systems [Desirable]
  • Experience of working with PLC/SCADA systems [desirable]
  • Experience in maintenance & repair for commercial pumps, motors & Valves [imperative]
  • Willing to learn and become competent with the installed systems operating systems through SCADA interface
  • A strong understanding of plant O&M, relevant service delivery within the energy industry.
  • Experience of CHP generation, electrical distribution heat and chilled water systems [Desirable]
  • Experience of working with PLC/SCADA systems [desirable]
  • Experience in maintenance & repair for commercial pumps, motors & Valves [imperative]
  • Willing to learn and become competent with the installed systems operating systems through SCADA interface
  • Relevant Mechanical qualifications to C&G or NVQ standard, relevant apprenticeship / qualification in mechanical engineering.
  • IOSH Working safely or similar [Desirable]
  • ACoP L8 Legionella Aware [ Preferred ]

Remuneration:

  • Salary – Circa £34,000 (Negotiable)
