R&D Engineer - Truro

A well-established Heat Pump Manufacturer that represents award winning British engineering at its finest has an excellent opportunity for a candidate to join their Research and Development Team as an R&D Engineer - Electrical, ideally based in Cornwall.

As the R&D Engineer you will continually innovate and streamline the design of company products to ensure that the highest level of quality and safety standards are met.  You will work as part of a dedicated R&D function to ensure the current product range is maintained and further developed to facilitate the growth of the company.

Main Purpose of a R&D Engineer:

  • To carry out electrical/electronic based testing and analysis of products
  • Develop and design new products
  • Support the wider Engineering team with electronic/electrical requirements
  • Produce drawings, schematics, documentation
  • To manage smaller projects
  • Perform diagnostics
  • Develop new and existing control package for company products
  • Work with test engineers and software engineers to maintain current equipment and specify new equipment
  • Support the Engineering Manager
  • Design 240 – 400V and 2 – 60KW systems using off the shelf components
  • Design PCB circuits

R&D Engineer Person Specification:

  • Working knowledge of EN 60335 and the EMC Directive
  • At least 3 years in a similar role
  • Degree educated with qualifications in either an electrical or electronic discipline or the appropriate work experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills to include MS Office, CAD packages for Electrical Drafting, Schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Good understanding of the principles of Project and Risk Management

Package:

  • Basic salary between £25,000 - £38,000 DOE
