Our client owns and operates low carbon and renewable energy CHP networks in Milton Keynes and Woking, supplying district heat, cooling and electricity to large commercial and public sector customers, and approximately 1500 residential units. The business is generating assets that include nearly 10MW of gas fired CHP and over 1.8 MW of solar PV installations

Primarily based in Woking, Surrey, with occasional cover also required in Milton Keynes and occasional travel elsewhere within the South East.  This is a great opportunity for someone looking to be instrumental in a company’s growth plans over the next 3 – 5 years.

Role Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to ensure safe and reliable distribution and supply of power to customers in the Woking area.  The successful Senior Authorised Person is expected to fulfil the role of High Voltage S.A.P with overall responsibility for planned preventative maintenance and corrective works for all electrical equipment associated with our client’s energy networks, as well as planning, supervising the installation of and commissioning new equipment.

The role is directly responsible for the supervision of in-house electrical engineering resource and contract workforce in Woking and requires liaison and occasional cover for the counterpart responsible for electrical assets in Milton Keynes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning and executing HV interventions and switching
  • Responsibility for Electrical aspects of an existing trigeneration town centre network (1.6MW CHP).
  • Assist in the control of Budget, relevant to the maintenance and operation of the Trigeneration site
  • Full asset management and operation
  • Resource Management
  • Systems procedures, controls and reporting
  • Compliance and standards, Risk Assessments
  • Assisting with maintenance budgets
  • Qualifications and Skills:
  • Qualified to Senior Authorised Person level for High Voltage switching
  • A strong understanding of plant relevant to district Network operation
  • Experience of CHP generation, electrical distribution Heating and cooling networks desirable
  • Experience of working with PLC/SCADA systems
  • Experience in maintenance & repair for commercial pumps, motors & Valves etc and associated control systems
  • Willing to learn and become competent with the installed systems
  • Relevant Electrical qualifications to C&G or NVQ standard, and additional certification in regard to HV operations (AP).
  • IOSH Managing safety or similar
  • Experience working installed commercial electrical equipment, Also Power generation, transformers and RMU’s.
  • Safe systems of work for LV and HV interventions

Remuneration:

  • Salary – Negotiable
  • 25 Days annual leave plus Bank holidays (rising to 28 days)
  • Pension
