Test Engineer - Truro

A well-established Heat Pump Manufacturer that represents award winning British engineering at its finest has an excellent opportunity for a candidate to join their Research and Development Team as an R&D Test Engineer, ideally based in Cornwall.

You will work as part of the R&D test Team to test and develop new and existing heat pumps. Bringing in fresh ideas you will ensure our client maintains and expands their cutting edge products through rigorous and thorough testing.

We are seeking an experienced Test Engineer or a Graduate looking to begin their career in engineering. 

Main Purpose of Job

  • To build and test new prototypes leading to new products and developments
  • To support Product Development, engaging with all internal stakeholders, product development meetings and NPD stage gate reviews.
  • To ensure the smooth transition of concepts through to detailed design and of approved designs through manufacturing
  • To ensure regulatory compliance of designs and test programmes.
  • Support and sometimes lead on test programmes and small development projects.
  • To help design, build and run simple and complex test rigs.
  • Conduct Comparative studies and compare products with existing rival products, which will ensure we have a superior and original product
  • To produce unbiased technical test reports and design documentation

Person Specification:

  • At least 3 years in a similar role or a Graduate looking to begin their career in engineering
  • Basic fabrication skills, including welding, soldering, and brazing (advantageous)
  • Conversant with concepts of accuracy, precision and calibration in a test setup
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in an engineering field
  • MS Office skills, to include excel
  • Knowledge of logic and visual basic programming
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics and electromechanical control systems
  • Knowledge of domestic plumbing systems, refrigeration cycles and domestic electrical systems
  • Experience within a workshop environment, ability to read technical drawings
  • Ability to build electrical circuits and diagnose faults

Package:

  • Basic salary between £22,000 - £25,000 DOE
